The "mentality" of "I deserve exclusive, prestigious content with top rewards but you don't deserve anything meaningful to do" seems to be back with a vengeance in Shadowlands.

It doesn't seem to be helping the game overall. This article is bit wrong regarding the linked auction houses. Before this patch the auction houses only existed in Orgrimmar, Ironforge, and Gadgetzan. The patch added auctioneers to the other cities where there previously were none. This meant that people were more spread out among the cities, which strained the servers and peoples' computers less. There were auctioneers in every major city, but as the article correctly states they weren't linked together.

I played in vanilla and I don't remember ever needing to go around to all the different major cities looking for something on their AHs. But I do remember that for most of its life vanilla only had auctioneers in IF and Org and Gadgetzan. I couldn't start until Cataclysm.
