Usb mass storage controller driver for xp

Can't use USB ports at all. When I plug into a USB port, it says one of the devices attached to this computer has malfuncctioned, and Windows does not recognize it. I've done everything, and there is absolutely no mass storage controller driver. Anyone know how I can rectify this?
